The State Government of Andhra Pradesh formulated a strategy for transforming agriculture and allied activities into a viable business preposition with ultimate objective of increasing farmers’ income as a part of the primary sector mission. Also, as a part of strategy, the State Government decided to promote FPOs/FPCs for reduction in the cost of cultivation and increased income through collective procurements of inputs and produce aggregation for better marketing. The overall objective is to increase the contribution of the agri-business sector to the State’s GDP substantially. To achieve the above object, it was felt necessary to promote and strengthen Farmer Producer Organizations which will act as business Start-ups.
