The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, has designed Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) to promote rural enterprises by providing financial and enterprise management skills to the entrepreneurs and contribute to better developmental outcomes. In order to promote sustainable enterprises, the entrepreneurs require support beyond financial assistance. Some of the major reasons for shutdown of micro enterprises also include lack of awareness on existing market opportunities, lack of entrepreneurial skills etc. SVEP targets two of the major reasons for failure of most start-up enterprises viz. lack of capital and lack of entrepreneurial skills among the entrepreneurs.

Way Forward
Under SVEP, APMAS aims to enable the evolution of BRC into a Model Resource Centre capable of supporting the aspiring entrepreneurs in acquiring required skills. APMAS will begin the on-ground interventions through collaboration with the SHGs and SHG Federations to setup BRC. Regular capacity building trainings for the primary and secondary stakeholders will be taken up. A pool of Community Resource Persons will be identified and trained to act as change agents for the project. The aim is to reach out to 3000 entrepreneurs and support them to sustain their enterprise by providing handholding support in managing the day-to-day activities of the enterprise in a profitable and sustainable manner.
